One of the most important service areas of Lions Clubs International is Diabetes. My home club Leo Club of Gauhati, Leo District 322G was fortunate enough to play an active role as a twinning club in a virtual International Twinning Activity titled Yoga for Beginners.
It was a collaborative project with over 20 Lions Clubs, 2 Lioness Clubs & 4 Leo Clubs from different Lions and Leo districts from four countries namely India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Diabetes is very rampant in India and hence, with the intention of raising awareness among the people and popularizing the banner of advocacy, Lion Satyapal Chugh from Lions District 3231 A2, Mumbai carried out a complete 90 minutes of virtual yoga with trainers and participants doing yoga on-screen religiously.
We had an average gathering of 150 consistent audiences with live sessions being telecasted on Facebook, thereby reaching a viewership of 2000 organic reaches. We, being a Leo Club from the state of Assam, it was a lively experience for our club to interact with such esteemed and service oriented Lion Leaders around the globe. The webinar was also attended by Past International President, Lions Club International, Lion Mahendra Amarasuriya sir for joining too. We hope our teamwork with Lions Clubs in serving society will definitely reduce the fearful statistics and numbers of diabetes worldwide.
