Bolki Shala (talking school) is a unique experiment by the NGO Diganta Swaraj Foundation (DSF)
While their urban counterparts are busy straining their necks, glued to the screens of their mobile phones and laptops as they attend online classes, children in the remote villages of Mokhada tehsil are excited with ‘Bolki Shala’ (talking school). Bolki Shala is a unique experiment by the NGO Diganta Swaraj Foundation (DSF), to ensure students from the tribal villages of Mokhada do not miss out on education during the pandemic-induced lockdown.
I’m pleased to share with you that project BOLKI SHALA was inaugurated with the coordination of the Lions club of Saphale and Diganta Swaraj Foundation. Approximately 1250 children are taking benefit of this. Many schools in rural areas do not have WiFi / mobile connectivity. My sincere thanks to Past District Governor, Lions District 3231A3, MJF Lion Dr. Deepak Chaudhari, advisor of this project of Bolki Shala.
In this area speakers with pen drive are provided with free and specially designed software for 1st to 7 th std students.
This way children in remote areas can study during this Covid pandemic. We executed the project with the initiative of Lions Airport and Coordinated by Lion Pramod Patil of Lions Club of Saphale.
A parent of a 4th standard student said: “After the schools closed, the majority of the teachers who came from other towns left the village. There is no scope of the school starting anytime soon. So we were getting worried. Luckily, Bolki Shala started and it is working out. We also call it Bhonga Shala (loudspeaker school) and kids are enjoying their classes.”
Several school children are deprived of education during this Covid pandemic, little help of Rs 2000/ per speaker for a school will go long way in implementing this need-based project.
