Service to Mankind is Service to God, Hence Lions Club of Western Suburbs of Lions Clubs, District 3231A3 planned a Service project at Shivli, the Favourite of Lord Shiva.
Just 170 kms from Mumbai is a small remote village of Shivli..inhabited by 165 families of Adivasis. Earlier in September when our club supported 50 families with Commercial plants to help them earn their living we were shaken by their living conditions. With Scarcity of water, no electricity, malnurishment, few clothing and dire needs of basics requirements we decided to focus all our October Service Activities to make a difference in their lives.
In these Covid times we planned a full day project little aware what might follow. We adopted 4 more farmers for plantation. Our club donated basic needs to these villagers who live without facilities of electricity, water, food , hospital etc. Each family got a solar lantern, anajbags with more of pulses as they are malnurished, basic medicines, Sholapuri Chaddars, shirt, saree and toys and speakers for their anganwadi, Sanitizers and masks to police men ..Just to count a few things.. Feeling totally blissed out with satisfaction of having done something for them. We had speaker for the BolkiShala and toys for anganwadi.
Joy of giving is something only the giver experiences. She is Lion Shraddha More who has been coordinating between the locals and us. She expressed the joy of the Shivli villagers for receiving the much needed help from us but also shared their fear of having outsiders from Mumbai who may carry the unwanted Pandemic. Hence in the last hours we took a call of not visiting the village ourselves because our first priority is their safety and trust.
We sent all the stuff at the site and requested her to do the needful. Their Safety and Trust in us was our priority ! All the projects were conducted efficiently and a complete update as photographs and videos was sent to us later. Congratulations to Club President Lion Manoj Tharad and his team for this project… We are so happy for them and will certainly visit them once things are normal.
Here are a few glimpses of the same…. #servewithsmile
